KFC COUPON

EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
MAY 3,2014
The United States of America is doubtedly the largest country in the world. It is home to some of the most prominent car companies, food chains, and people and clothing lines. One such true American delicacy is Kentucky Fried Chicken, home to the delicious mouth watery Fried Chicken. Fried Chicken as we know is a must try when living in America and KFC is the place that pops up in one’s mind. But have you ever wondered if their chicken is fresh as they claimed to be or is it a sham?

Like all fast food restaurants alike, they use coupons to not only market themselves but to spread the words of affordable deals. KFC had this coupon where if you buy a two piece chicken meal, you get another one free which comes with their handmade biscuits and a choice of two sides. That may sound delicious and filling but people don’t know what is actually put in to make their chicken salty but delicious. KFC I am afraid to say is tricking their consumers. To get that point across, I altered the message of the buy one get one free ad by saying that if you buy this side, you have just purchased yourself a heart attack with a complimentary one. Instead of having a biscuit and two sides, I said that along with one heart attack special, you also receive two heart clogs, one happy kidney stone, guaranteeing you a quick trip to death. In addition, I also altered the images by covering the fried chicken with  two heart clogs, kidney stones covering the sides and a small picture of a dead chicken explaining to  people of how cooperate companies cruelly torture animals to death so they can make a easy profit from the foolish consumer’s wallet.

What does this project mean to me? Personally I feel that this project is emphasizing the horrors of eating at fast food restaurants. Today we live in a society where the majority of people in the United States eat at fast food restaurants due to its costs and the taste they emphasize on the adds. However it is unfortunate that many ads and companies hide the dangers of eating these foods for long periods of time. I feel that the message is strongly emphasizing viewers to choose healthy alternatives making me somewhat a health cautious individual.

After spending a few days on having fun with this project, I do feel that this is a successful one. Here I spread the message of the negative but harsh truth of eating at fast food restaurants by emphasizing the harsh health consequences down the road. In addition, the dead chicken is unifying people together to fight against animal cruelty and finding fresh healthy alternatives.  Wake up America, and know the real deal!!
